What a waste ! Creator of genius, Galliano John Galliano, known for his ability to create phenomenons and be a sensation, appeared before the court yesterday, Wednesday 22nd of June 2011 at the Tribunal de grande instance of Paris… I wish to come back on some of the most beautiful black dresses to have seen the Fashion Week shows, in the hope that the fashion scene will never again bare witness to a story that brought shame upon the entire industry.
The LBD as seen through the imaginative eyes of a peerless designer
Designer of extravagant and spectaculat fashion shows, the one some called the “anti-diktat of fashion”, John Galliano showed elaborated his first fashion show thanks to the notorious help of Anna Wintour and her precious business contacts, producing a improvised, last minute show where models Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss and Christy Turlington prsented his collection for free in 17 black outfits. The enormous success that emanated propulsed him on the front f the interntaional fashion stage, and ever since, our most Parisian designer, though son of a spanish mother and english father with italian roots, filled our eyes with the things dreams are made of.
For the Dior A/W 2007/2008 Show, in honour of Christian Dior, all the dresses during the first part embody the New Look style, reincarnated into high and tight waisted silhouettes, evoking the black and white clichés of the Irving Penn epoque. Notice the magnificently decorated black sheath dress under a white whipped cream coat. The Dior A/W 2008/2009 Show is a demonstration that seduced the invitees all comfortably seated under a big tent in the musée Rodin gardens in Paris, a show Galliano resumed with « Etre sexy d’une façon sensuelle, avoir une démarche assurée et une attitude féline» (“be sexy in a sensuous way, have a confident walk and a feline attitude”). The embroidered black tulle dress underlines a thin waist by its black patent leather buckle belt, and the volume of tulle creates a seductive play on transparency.
More recently, forgetting for the larger part of the Dior S/S 2010 Collection the lingerie connotations he so deeply cherishes, this opus honouring the elegant women of the past century nevertheless presents corsets and fine laces when it comes to the black dresses… Devine dresses; black satin dress revealing a piece of delicate black lace,a black bustier dress of tulle and ivory corset with black lace finishings, a play on opacy by light silk chiffon and asymmetrical cuts.
I’d like to leave you with Galliano‘s words:
Je préfère le mauvais goût à l’absence totale de goût – I prefer bad taste to the total absence of taste

A word by the writer:
I wish to bring attention to the fact that the designer’s attitude and words will never be excused. Galliano shamed his reputation, and that of the whole fashion world now tinted with the inexusable behaviour of one who was once a respected man.
I wish not to offend anyone, and offer my apologies if such was the case, but merely wished to present the undeniable talent of the designer.
