It’s a well-known fact that the LBD is a garment for occasions, even when it comes to winning a prince’s heart. Such was the case for Kate Middleton, Prince William’s wife-to-be, when she wore a fine lace dress and literally captivated the royal member sitting at her feet.
Legend has it that after seeing the lovely Kate modeling at the charity show that took place in 2002 at the St Andrews Univeristy, Scotland , that the prince first engaged conversation with her. Sitting in the front row, the young man was seduced by Kate’s charm, as she walked down in dark lingerie, her skin showing beneath a short strapless dress made of black lace, maintained by a thin line of turquoise above the bust which recalled the ribbon of that same colour which finished the hemline just above the knee. The dress’s stylist, Charlotte Todd, at the time a student in fashion, was far from imagining such a destiny for her creation. The Kerry Taylor house announced last Monday the auctioning of the dress which will be taking place on March 17th in London at 2pm. A dress set to sell for around £10,000.
If we believe the words of Coco Chanel who said that “ If a woman is poorly dressed, we notice her dress, but if she is impeccably dressed, it is her that we notice”, and consider the effect Kate had upon William that day… we can only conclude that the said dress was a success !
