Cannes 2011 : the end

May 24, 2011 by Roxane

The  Cannes Festival ended last night afetr 11 days of incessant walks up the red steps of the Palais des Festivals with a myriad stars in beautiful black gowns. Great films, great outfits… what more could I aks for? Ok, to be there in person, but otherwise, I think we get a fair deal. This 64th edition of the Festival ends in style just like it began…

Black for the night

I devoured websites looking for pictures to publish with regards to the last three days of the festival.. so enjoy :) Claudia Schiffer, slimmer than ever (skinny even?) and all smiles, came to see Paolo Sorrentino‘s, This Must Be The Place wearing a Dolce & Gabbana black lace dress. Top model Anja Rubik, in a Emilio Pucci black sheath, arrived with Peter Dundas, none other than the creative director of the the House of … Pucci itself ! I think that oen has my golden star for the evening. And need I present Marisa Berenson who also chose the inevitable LBD for the showing. Does her style sens result from years in the film industry or passed on by her grand mother the talented Elsa Schiaparelli ?

Saturday night (“and I like the way you move, oh, pretty baby” ah, no, not a fan?), the most distinguished individual was without a doubt the lovely Ximena Navarette. Better known by her title of Miss Univers 2010, she came for the showing of La Source des Femmes, in a  demure appearing black gown, though slit up to the top of the thigh, with long sleeves, and a little pouch bag for an elegant look … this very fitted dress was a fashion exception on the Cannes red carpet when we take into account that the dresses that created a buzz were mostly bustier and sleeveless…quite naturally mind you for they are after all the red carpet traditional favourites ! But it’s quite unnecessary for the beautiful 23 year old brunette to reveal every inch of her perfect body to be sexy, especially when she can do it much more subtly, and as did Angelina Jolie, by showing off one single gorgeous leg. Leila opted for a simple balck dress with a single big bow on one shoulder. sHardly original I admit, but a flawless choice.

Finally, Sunday 22nd of May, Ludivine Sagnier, Louis Garrel and Catherine Deneuve arrivent for the showing of Les Biens-Aimés, by Christophe Honoré, who closed this edition. Ludivine had a hard time chosing between a black sequin dress and a plain black one . Who said one had to make a choice? Come on, let’s do a half-half. In fact,  black and a handful of sequins, such was also the winning cocktail seen upon Elodie Bouchez for the end ceremony. In the team for The Artist, Bérénice Bejo, director Michel Hazanavicius and Jean Dujardin with his wife, Alexandra Lamy, presented us with a beautiful little black dress and little white dress duo .. quite well done, though I can’t fathom why Jean has a blue revers to his suit jacket… The members of the jury climbed the stairs for the last time of this 64th édition du Festival … with Teo Keng Beng looking dashing in black.

And now? Meet you again next year…
