Mummy Style Steals

The sunshine is out, beautiful days ahead of us, and Hollywood stars (and more) are pregnant up to their noses. Indeed, it’s quite a baby boom Spring we’re witnessing among the celeb circle… but also a black boom! The mums-to-be have all found a favourite LBD, understanding perfectly well that, when nothing in the closet can work for your changing body, the little black dress is a timeless flawless option. Flat tum or big bump, we all love our black dress.

The little black dress adapts to all figures, and here are just a few examples among many. It’s quite a relief really, because, let’s face it, a maternity wardrobe is the saddest part of its life (truly something must be done for better -affordable- maternity clothing). Tia Mowry seems to think the same: quite a black dress adept, the actress from Sister Sister (aha you’d almost forgotten that series, admit it!) does not hesitate to fish out an LBD for every occasion. She’s been spotted wearing the ideal maternity dress: a maxi black dress, strapless, with just a large band of fabric from her right breast across to her left shoulder and ending in her back. Classy, comfortable, sophisticated. The fluid model underlined her bust fell perfectly around her bump, and there is no doubt that this is the Spring maternity dress every expecting mum should have. For the 42nd  Annual NAACP Image Awards, Tia arrived in a sexy lingrie style black gown, showing how being pregnant is sexy. She made an appearance also for the Los Angeles Premiere of Battle: L.A. which stars her hubby Cory Hardrict, dressed in a sublime little black lace dress, knee length, with an opaque under dress, and lace arms and neckline. We love the scalloping and the thin belt that underlined her bust and accentuated the pronounced bump.

A dress that had quite a lot of success for it had been spotted before then, back in January, on ex Baby Spice Emma Bunton, during the National Television Awards : the singer announced last May the birth of her second so, Tate. Ex co-worked Victoria Beckham is another fan of the LBD: during her pregnancy, which she’s been trying to hide for months, she walks around in nude heels (not the safest of ides but what can you expect from a fashion addict? I don’t think I’ve seen Posh in anything other than ankle breaking stilettos!) and a loose cape like black dress, very likely taken from her own collection.

Congratulations to model Maggie Rizer who is expecting her first child, due next November : le beautiful 33 year-old opted for a sober black dress with a daring plunging V-neck to counter the strictness.

Glowing Kate Hudson arrived at the first Hawn Foundation event at the Metropolitan Club in New York City wearing a floaty, loose black printed dress. She wears vaporous black gowns as well as short black summer dresses, as seen in her appearance on the  Late Show with David Letterman.

Singer Pink is so pregnant she’s about to pop, and headed for the Urth Caffe and Zum Dior salon with daddy Carey Hart in L.A. last May wearing a long black dress, so, see, it really is the ideal maternity dress ! Strapless, V neck, spaghetti straps… whichever you prefer, as long as it’s knit for comfort and lightweight, in cotton, silk, stretch … We’re looking for maximum ease and freedom, and, what luck, we’re sure to make a chic statement at the same time !
