Over a week ago we were informed of the sudden death of singer Amy Winehouse, found dead in her London flat on the 23rd of July 2011. Amy had a very personal sense of style, which counted many black dresses.
Amy Winehouse, style icon…
… and not only a self-destructing talented individual. There is a sufficient amount of articles being written on her at the moment with relation to her drug addiction past : that same press which exposed her body that had become the centre focus of bad-mouthed magazines whose success feed off tabloid press of miserable celebrities, are now singing praise of this woman whom they will now have to replace by some other in order to expose the scars of loneliness and fragility. it is without any judgement of the person that I wish to resume in a few pictures and words the Amy Winehouse style, far from all this hypocritical media.
Amy very much appreciated the style of the 50′s which she would reinterpret in her own way, along with the total black and white look that she would simply brighten by a touch of red, pin-up-like, liek here where she appears on stage in a cute checkered black and white dress, or even when posing in a graphic black and white dress. She liked to wear bustier dresses too : she wore a centre buttoned black bustier dress in company of her husband Blake Fielder-Civil, another time in a short black dress with red tartan impressions, accessorized with a pair of 3/4 gloves for a feminine and elegant look. Indeed, as you can see liked belts a lot, to underline her pretty waist.
Finally, regardless to what the media shows of her image, Amy was a caring and generous friend, as many have witnessed. As many others part of the so-called cursed artists, defined by their deaths all aged 27 years, Amy passed away from her own excesses such as did Bon Scott, Keith Moon, Jimi Hendrix or even Jim Morrisson. Like them, she brought some friends down with her into the spiral of drugs, but a close friend (with whom she shared a flat and her drug addiction) revealed to The Mirror that Amy was very caring, and kindly paid him a stay in rehab, spending £130,000 to help him get out too… It saved his life.
