Following up on the DSK story, Christine Lagarde has been the centre of attention. This gave me the idea of starting a series on the world’s most powerful women… in little black dresses of course.
The Women in Black
After a career in law with american firm Baker & McKenzie, Christine Lagarde is Minister of Economics, Industry and Finance for which she posesses the longevity. In 2009, americain magazine Forbes rates her 17th in its annual 100 Most Powerful Women list, and the british Financial Times nominates her best Minister of Finance of the Euro zone. June 28th 2011, elected after the resignation of Dominique Strauss-Kahn, Mme Lagarde becomes head of IMF (International Monetary Fund), which makes her the first woman to be appointed at this post.
So a successful business woman, yes, but one who doesn’t forget her femininity : discreet but elegant outfits, the most chic being a little black dress. In sorts she is also embassador of french style, a role Mme Lagarde does not take lightly. Patent black Louboutin and a short little black dress with a pinch of audacity, Christine Lagarde shows us how one can remain stylish without losing an ounce of propriety. A Chanel enthusiast, her looks are pinched from the maison’s lastest collections, such as this black Paris-Byzance dress previously seen worn by Poppy Delevingne.
To every woman the task of finding her personal verion for wearing the black dress : for Mme Lagarde, hers remains in the simple but effective association of a classic black dress with a tweed jacket, the perfect balance between etiquette and style.
